POSITION TITLE: SENIOR MINISTER
Purpose of Position: To preach and teach the Scriptures in order to clearly inspire people to a mature relationship with Jesus Christ. To be the executive leader of the ministerial and office staff with the purposes of administration and supervision. To be the leader in guiding members to witness, grow and develop Christian maturity and participate in Christian ministries.
LEAD IN DYNAMIC CORPORATE WORSHIP:
Ø Provide spiritual leadership to the church, its selected church leaders, volunteers, and ministry staff.
Ø Prepare and deliver sermons; develop preaching and worship schedules.
Ø Teach adult/small group Bible study classes as needed.
Ø Serve as a compassionate pastoral model and example.
LEAD IN EVANGELISM:
Ø Visit and/or call prospective members and lead in evangelistic outreach of Highview Christian Church.
Ø Lead in training to equip members for effective evangelism.
Ø Be available as a resource on a limited basis to other churches and organizations with elder approval.
SERVE AS ADMINISTRATOR:
Ø Be the executive leader of the ministerial and office staff with the purposes of administration, supervision and evaluation.
Ø Coordinate the many programs of the church through close and regular communication with ministerial staff and volunteers.
Ø Supervise, coordinate and carry out ministerial visitation of hospitalized and home-bound members in a regular fashion.
Ø Provide leadership in planning, coordinating, and evaluating the total program of the church.
Ø Provide leadership in the areas of Leadership Training to develop and train new and existing leaders.
SERVE IN PASTORAL ROLES:
Ø Work in close relationship with selected church leaders for the purpose of direction and guidance in various areas of responsibility.
Ø Conduct counseling sessions, perform wedding ceremonies, conduct funerals as necessary taking great care to reflect Biblical principles.
Ø Cooperate with other ministers in local ministerial fellowship to develop understanding and fellowship between churches.
Ø Communicate regularly with elders and in conjunction with their guidance, give direction and supervision to such tasks as may be assigned to him from time to time.
Ø Serve on boards and committees outside of Highview Christian Church with elder approval.
PRINCIPAL ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS
Ø Works alongside and is responsible to the elders of Highview Christian Church.
Ø Advise elders regarding staff policy, program, needs and responsibility.
Ø Advise and champion Ministry Teams regarding needs, equipment, etc.
Ø Will be doctrinally accountable to the elders.
PREPARATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, ACCOUNTABILITY:
Ø Will be a man of God whose life strives to achieve high standards of Christian character.
Ø Will be a member of the Christian Church/Church of Christ, non-denominational.
Ø Will hold a baccalaureate degree from an approved Bible College or Seminary.
Ø Will have demonstrated the ability to work on a multiple-staff setting and possess the necessary management skills to do so efficiently.
Ø Will have a minimum of 3-5 years of ministry experience.
Ø Will be dedicated to winning people to Christ and nurturing them in Christ.
Ø Will recognize, accept and promote the team concept of a unified ministry.
Ø Will have and maintain congenial leadership manners for developing compatible relationships.
Ø Will maintain spiritual growth and health by attending conferences and courses to further that growth.
Ø Will demonstrate a willingness to serve under the authority of others as well as being an authority for others.
Ø Will not seek employment outside of HCC without the approval of the elders.
Ø Will be held to a high standard of accountability to elders for moral and sexual purity.
